1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site operator.

Modern browsers also provide related storage mechanisms — localStorage and sessionStorage — which allow websites to store data locally on your device without using traditional cookies. These work similarly to cookies but are not transmitted to the server with every request.

This policy explains what cookies and browser storage AgriMarket NG actually uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

2. What AgriMarket NG Uses

Based on a full audit of the AgriMarket NG codebase, the following technologies are in use:

2a. Strictly Necessary — Authentication Session Cookie

Type: HTTP cookie (server-set, HttpOnly)

Purpose: Keeps you logged in to your AgriMarket account. Set by our authentication system (Better Auth) when you sign in. Without this cookie, you cannot access your account, place orders, manage listings, or use any authenticated feature.

First-party or third-party: First-party (set by agrimarketng.com)

Consent required: No — strictly necessary for the site to function.

Retention: Session duration, or until you sign out or the session expires.

2b. Functional / Preferences — localStorage

Cookie/analytics consent preference

Key: c2_analytics_consent

Purpose: Stores your response to the analytics consent banner (accepted or declined), so we do not ask you again on every visit. Expires after 365 days.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: No — this is the record of your own consent choice. It does not track you.

Active role preference

Key: agrimarket_active_role (localStorage)

Purpose: Remembers which role (Buyer, Seller, Logistics) you last used, so the correct workspace is shown when you return.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: No — functional preference, no tracking.

Seller listing draft state

Key: listing_draft_* (localStorage)

Purpose: Preserves unsaved listing form data so you do not lose your work if you navigate away accidentally.

2c. Session Storage — UTM Attribution

Key: agrimarket_utm (sessionStorage)

Purpose: If you arrive at AgriMarket via a link containing UTM parameters (e.g. from an email campaign or social media post), those parameters are stored for the duration of your browser session. This allows us to understand which channels are driving traffic. The data is cleared when you close your browser tab.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: This storage is only populated when UTM parameters are present in the URL you clicked. It does not track your behaviour across sessions.

2d. Analytics — GoDaddy Insights (C2 / Signals)

Type: Third-party analytics script (loaded conditionally)

Provider: GoDaddy (Signals / C2 analytics platform)

Script source: img1.wsimg.com

Purpose: Tracks page views, session starts, and click events to help us understand how visitors use AgriMarket. Data is used to improve the platform. No personally identifiable information is sent to this service.

First-party or third-party: Third-party (GoDaddy)

Consent required: Yes. This script is only loaded after you accept the analytics consent banner. If you decline, it is not loaded.

Cookies/storage set by this service: The Signals script may set its own cookies or use browser storage. These are governed by GoDaddy's privacy practices.

2e. Live Support Chat — Tawk.to (ADA)

Type: Third-party live chat service

Provider: Tawk.to

Script source: embed.tawk.to

Purpose: Powers the "Ask ADA" support chat button. Allows you to send messages to the AgriMarket support team in real time.

First-party or third-party: Third-party (Tawk.to)

Consent required: Tawk.to is loaded on all public pages to enable support access. Tawk.to may set its own cookies for session management and chat continuity. These are governed by Tawk.to's Privacy Policy.

Note: Tawk.to is a functional service (support access). The native chat launcher button is hidden; only the custom ADA button is visible.

3. AgriMarket Advertising System

AgriMarket operates its own internal advertising platform that allows sellers and businesses to promote their products and services on the marketplace.

Impression and click tracking for these advertisements is handled entirely server-side. When an ad is displayed or clicked, a request is sent to AgriMarket's own servers, which record the event in our database. The IP address used for rate-limiting is hashed (SHA-256) and is not stored in readable form.

No browser cookies, localStorage, or device identifiers are used for advertising tracking. AgriMarket does not use cross-site tracking, retargeting pixels, or behavioural advertising technologies.

4. Paystack (Payment Processing)

When you choose to pay by card or bank transfer via Paystack, you are redirected to Paystack's hosted checkout page at checkout.paystack.com. AgriMarket does not load any Paystack JavaScript on its own pages.

Paystack's checkout page is operated entirely by Paystack and is subject to Paystack's Privacy Policy. Paystack may set cookies or use browser storage on their own domain during the payment process. AgriMarket does not control and is not responsible for Paystack's use of cookies or data.

After payment, you are returned to AgriMarket. We receive a payment confirmation from Paystack's servers; we do not receive or store your card details.

5. Managing Your Preferences

Analytics consent

When you first visit AgriMarket, a consent banner asks whether you accept analytics tracking. You can decline, and analytics will not be loaded. If you change your mind, you can clear your browser's localStorage for agrimarketng.com and the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Browser controls

All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies and clear localStorage. Refer to your browser's help documentation:

Please note: blocking strictly necessary cookies (such as the authentication session cookie) will prevent you from signing in to your account.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features or integrations that affect browser storage. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
